Welcome to Frizzo’s Electric Café, a blog about All Things 80s! This has been bubbling on the back burner as a passion project for me for many years now. In short, this site is dedicated to the music, movies, memories, feels, and overall awesomeness that was the 1980s.
It is the goal of this site to relive or recapture some of the magic of the decade by presenting some of the familiar songs, forgotten favorites, hidden gems, and outright obscurities in terms of music, movies, and pop culture. Heck, we’ll even toss in some more recent stuff from 80s artists that are still performing today, as well as newer acts influenced by the 80s.
So, grab your skinny ties, tiny shades, and oversized neon-colored sweaters and settle in. Hopefully, you will discover (or rediscover) some of what made the 80s totally tubular. Drinking New Coke is optional. Very, very optional. Enjoy!
Yours truly,
Frizzo
Q. Why are you called Frizzo?
A. Have you seen my hair?
Categories
This site uses a number of quirky categories to organize the posts. Here is what they mean:
Deep Cuts
An album track, b-side, or remix of note. Can be by a well-known or more obscure artist. Not a single, usually.
Fave Raves
One my personal favorite songs!
Hidden Gems
Songs that may have charted or received radio airplay but have otherwise fallen through the cracks.
Hot 100
Definitely a hit song, although a minor one. I consider this category to include songs from #41 to #100. Many of these also qualify has Hidden Gems 🙂
One Hit Wonders
You know what this means already, I’ll bet. Artists that had one major hit and that’s it. Maybe they had a second, minor hit, but it’s typically irrelevant. So, yeah. That’s that.
The Obscurity File
A song or film for the truly dedicated 80s fanatic. Not one that’s going to come up very often and may only appear in a trivia game — if then!
Top 40
A major hit! Most people will know this song when it plays. Still, there were some really GOOD ones in the 80s!
